BrainEnergy, in collaboration with Jikei University School of Medicine and Sumitomo Forestry Co., Ltd., has won the “Heartful Design” category (Research Field) of the “Wood Design Award 2024.”
[About the Wood Design Award]
The Wood Design Award is an awards program that defines “Wood Design” as “activities aimed at solving social issues through the use of wood” and aims to redefine the merits and value of wood through the power of design.
It covers a wide range of initiatives—from architecture, spaces, and products to activities, systems, and research—and aims to discover new value in wood and disseminate it throughout society.
The “Heartful Design” category, for which we received this award, recognizes initiatives that enhance comfort through the use of wood, leading to improved well-being and health. This philosophy aligns with research that views the value of wood from the perspective of medicine and healthcare.
This award was the result of initiatives that viewed wood not only in terms of architecture, the environment, and resources, but also as a material related to human health.
In recent years, globally, the use of natural light and the incorporation of natural materials such as wood are expected to yield significant benefits, including stress reduction, improved concentration and productivity, and community revitalization.
